What are contact lenses?
They are small, ultra thin lenses which make life much easier for a lot of people who originally wear eyeglasses. Contact lenses are light in weight, invisible & totally correct the field of vision unlike the eyeglasses by which you cant see clearly through its sides.
Contact lenses can correct vision problems like near-sightedness, far-sightedness, astigmatism & presbyopia which is the inability to focus during reading so they can now replace even bifocal glasses. Contact lenses are very safe & almost all people can wear them even children except those who have certain eye problems which prevent them from wearing contact lenses

Types according to wear extent:
- Disposable lenses:
They are lenses which are used for a certain period of time then thrown away. The duration of those lenses varies according to the type of lens, they vary from daily, weekly, monthly but never exceed 3 months.
These lenses are preferred by most physicians since they allow a decrease in microbial growth , so theyre more suitable for eyes that secrete a lot of proteins which might affect the lens clarity. - Permanent lenses:
These lenses come in glass vials & can be used on a daily or weekly basis for up to 2 years. Theyre usually more expensive than disposable ones since they last for a longer time, but they might cause some problems like allergies or inflammation & thats because the same lens is used for a long time.

May sometimes be accompanied by pain or discomfort. - Photophobia:
Most new contact lens wearers experience photophobia at the beginning but, if it increases with time or if it was only felt in one of the 2 eyes, then you must have your eyes checked. - Discomfort:
The cause of discomfort maybe very simple as it might be due to the presence of dust specks under the lens but, if this sense of discomfort continues or increases with time therefore, you have to check your eyes. - Vision:
